The KidsCan 2016 Santa Run was a hugely successful event. This year, thousands of runners throughout New Zealand left the starting line at 6:30pm on Wednesday the 7th of December. (A few events are also held on the 8th of December.) Proceeds from the Santa Run will go to KidsCan, so they can continue to help Kiwi kids affected by poverty, by providing them with basics like shoes and raincoats, as well as regular nourishing breakfasts.
Started in 2008 by Lactic Turkey Events as an Auckland only fundraiser, the KidsCan 2016 Santa Run saw simultaneous events in Whangarei, Albany, Henderson, South Auckand, Auckland Central, Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, Hastings, Palmerston North, Wanganui, New Plymouth, Gisborne, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Wanaka and Invercargill. This year a Blenheim event was added to the existing line up.
Participants in the fundraiser fun run for the children’s charity have to don a Santa suit (white bushy beard optional)and run or walk 2-3 kilometres. Entry is by team or individual, with hundreds of New Zealand workplaces getting into the festive and charitable spirit.
RDT Pacific has been a proud supporter of KidsCan since 2013. This year each of our offices in Auckland, Rotorua, Wellington and Christchurch were there to represent the company and raise money for a cause that is close to our hearts.
The KidsCan Charitable Trust was founded in 2005 on the belief that education equals opportunity, and every child, regardless of their social economic background, should have an equal chance. Find out more about the charity at kidscan.org.nz
