RDT Pacific is pleased to have construction underway for a new youth development facility at RNZAF Base Auckland in Whenuapai.
The new facility will host youth development courses for the NZ Defence Force’s northern region Youth Development Unit.
This includes the Limited Service Volunteer course – a six week hands-on motivational and training programme for young people administered by the New Zealand Defence Force.
The course is for young people on the benefit who are not in employment or training programmes and aims to improve their self-discipline, self-esteem and confidence whilst living on a military camp during the six week course.
These courses are run by NZDF in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development. The course consists not only of intensive physical training activities, but also lessons designed to help attendees gain employment, gain life skills and develop certain values such as respect, team work and trust.
The new facility will comprise an administration building, storage facility and barrack units designed specifically to accommodate the trainees and for NZDF to deliver this programme. The facility has been designed with expansion and flexibility in mind.
RDT Pacific was involved in development of the business case for this project over the last three years and will be acting as Project Managers through to completion, continuing our great relationship with the New Zealand Defence Force.
