The scope of work included the removal of all existing building services back to a basic building shell (including the removal of asbestos ceiling over-spray material on each floor).
This work was carried out two floors at a time, to enable Manukau City Council to continue operating from the building.

The Project Management role included the coordination of decanting and migration activities, close liaison with the IT department, ensuring the building is secure at all times, all with a strong emphasis on Health and Safety.

Monthly Health & Safety Partnership meetings were held throughout the duration of the project, attended by project team members and Council Health and Safety personnel.

Key issues the project team focused on during the management of this project included:

  • safe working conditions – for Council staff, the public and contractors
  • establishing temporary entrances/receptions
  • minimising noise – this included rescheduling work around important meetings etc
  • clear communication of intended activities on site

The project was completed on time and within budget.
