Property Industry Awards 2016

The Property Council New Zealand, Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards 2016 was a chance to celebrate the achievements of our property sector over the last year. Finalist properties were showcased and award winners announced at the glitzy black-tie event, held in Auckland last Friday. Around 1,500 of the country’s property professionals were in attendance.

The Property Council’s Chief Executive, Connal Townsend commented that the awards underscore how the property sector “keeps pushing the design, technological and material boundaries by creating buildings and environments that reflect the needs and aspirations of the people and communities who use them.”

The awards recognise the hard work, excellence and innovation in our local design and construction. RDT Pacific was fortunate to take home awards across a number of projects and categories. This included the Manukau District Court, project, which received an Excellence in the Warren and Mahoney Special Purpose Property Award. Judges were impressed with the scheduling “which was carefully staged to avoid undue disruption to the fully operational Court environment.”

In addition, the Otahuhu Recreation Centre – which we provided Quantity Surveying services for – was awarded Excellence in the same category. This project also took home an Excellence in the Holmes Consulting Group Tourism and Leisure Property Award. In their assessment, Judges noted the project’s value to the community, as a facility that “strengthens social connections in the way that it encourages users of the facilities to mix,” and as a “benchmark recreation project that meets the community’s needs in all aspects.”

In the MyTrends Industrial Property Award, RDT Pacific projects Hellmann and Ideal Electrical – both located in Auckland – earned Merit awards, while Glassworks Industry Park in Christchurch earned an Excellence. Regarding the Glassworks development, Judges were impressed by the project which was “delivered in a compressed timeframe of five months, including all completed roadworks, to ensure the project met the delivery times for all of the logistics businesses. And exceptional result.”
