Early December saw 18 towns and cities around New Zealand overrun with Santas. The 2015 Great KidsCan Santa Run event took place around the country on the first Wednesday and Thursday of the month, with thousands bedecking themselves in Santa suits and heading out for a 2-3km fun run or walk to raise money for disadvantaged Kiwi kids.
Launched in 2008, the Santa Run began as an Auckland event, but has grown across the country and seen numbers climb to around 6000 this year. And quite a few of those taking part this year were representing RDT Pacific’s Wellington office. Our whole Wellington team turned out for the event in fact, along with plenty of family members.
Julie Chapman, KidsCan CEO and co-founder, is excited for the opportunity to raise both money and awareness at a time of year that can be particularly hard for Kiwi kids facing tough times. “The Santa Run is such a great event for people to get involved in. We have been part of the run for six years now and every dollar raised helps us continue our work supporting Kiwi kids”.
RDT Pacific is proud to be an ‘In Our Own Backyard Partner’ providing support to the charity year round.
