Completed in 2008, the Counties Manukau Police Station includes a 24-hour cell facility, accommodation, Counties Manukau District headquarters functions, Team Policing and Road Policing units and a File Management Centre. The building incorporates contemporary design and includes features such as a cafeteria, shower/locker area and a Serious Incidents room.

A vital element of the development is the creation of a link block between the Stage 1 and Stage 2 buildings which includes a large kitchen/cafeteria area designed as a focal point for staff working in the building. A large multi-purpose and flexible meeting space is located adjacent to the kitchen/cafeteria.

Another significant feature of this project was the construction of a tunnel between the Police Hub and the adjacent Manukau courthouse, to facilitate prisoner transfer.

Stage 1 of this development won the 2007 Govt3 Award for Sustainable Buildings / Fitouts.

RDT Pacific was engaged as the Project Manager for this project, with Stage 1 completed in early 2007 and Stage 2 completed in late 2008. The project aided through the use of continuously monitored facilitated workshops for the development of the brief and establishment of a partnering charter.

A collaborative project methodology was adopted to gain specialist input from a building contractor as early as possible.
