Ormiston Senior College, located in Flat Bush, Auckland, is a purpose-built secondary school catering to Year 11 – 13 students. With a current roll of more than 1,400 students, and significant residential growth nearby, the school is undergoing a staged expansion to meet increasing roll growth.

The Ministry of Education is investing in permanent infrastructure, delivered in two stages, including two new classroom block extensions and a two phased extension for a new dedicated administration building. RDT Pacific is proud to be engaged to deliver these significant projects.

The success of delivering both stages of the school’s property masterplan relies heavily on the project team’s shared experience in Ministry of Education projects, and RDT Pacific’s consistent application of collaborative working practices with key stakeholders.

Stage 2: administration extension and teaching block

Currently under construction, Stage 2 includes:

• 14 additional teaching spaces, comprising 12 teaching spaces for OSC and 4 teaching spaces for a dedicated satellite unit for Mt Richmond Specialist School
• New administration spaces to support school operations

This phase is being delivered under a traditional delivery model with Aspec Construction. The design supports OSC’s blended learning model and operational needs, ensuring continuity with existing facilities.

Stage 3: three-storey teaching block

Stage 3 involves the delivery of a three-storey, 18-classroom block along the Ormiston Road frontage. This will be delivered under a Design & Build model with Watts & Hughes Construction, utilising a Ministry of Education repeatable design solution.

Key features include:

• A music room and drama room with direct access to outdoor learning spaces
• External stairs and enclosed link bridge connecting to existing buildings
• Provision for future campus integration

Both stages have been designed by Jasmax to reflect the school’s existing learning ethos and masterplan vision, ensuring new facilities align with OSC’s educational approach.

RDT Pacific is delivering comprehensive Project Management and Engineer to Contract (EtC) services across both stages. Our team is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of the construction works, ensuring alignment with the school’s pedagogical and operational goals.
