Auckland Central Police Base
The Auckland Central Police Base, located at 210 Federal Street, is a newly established 24/7 policing facility in the heart of Auckland’s CBD. Distinct from the earlier Auckland Central Police Station project at College Hill, this base was developed to enhance the New Zealand Police’s visibility and accessibility in the central city. Its presence marks a significant step forward in public safety infrastructure for the region.
RDT Pacific provided both Project Management and Engineer to the Contract services for the initiative. The scope included the fit-out of three floors tailored to specific policing functions such as a public counter, armoury, exhibits storage, workstations, and amenities. The project also incorporated New Zealand Police-specific ICT and security systems, alongside the procurement and management of a full FF&E suite.
Delivered within a leased commercial building, the project transformed standard office space into a fully operational police station. The design reconfigured existing layouts, upgraded building services, and integrated secure ICT infrastructure to meet operational needs. Its standout feature is the conversion of a conventional tenancy into a specialised, technology-enabled environment that supports modern policing and future adaptability.

The project demanded strong project management capabilities, as well as stakeholder coordination to meet stringent operational and security requirements. RDT Pacific’s prior experience with NZ Police projects was instrumental in delivering the facility within a compressed timeline.
This new space supports public engagement, rapid deployment, and specialist policing services. Built to a high standard, it offers a professional and flexible environment that can evolve with future policing needs. The successful delivery of the project underscored the importance of aligning procurement, design, ICT, and compliance from the outset – especially within the framework of public sector procurement rules.
