DCI Data Centers – AKL01
RDT Pacific are proud to have provided Project Management and Engineer to Contract services for this new data centre in Auckland. AKL01 comprises data halls, security areas, staging areas, office space and customised tenant areas.
This project is the first of DCI’s new generation of cloud data centres being developed in New Zealand. AKL02, also being managed by RDT Pacific in Auckland, was under construction at the time of Practical Completion for this project.
The facility has been built to the highest physical and virtual security requirements, with the associated compliance credentials, in order to host multi-national cloud providers and highly classified government clients.
Like all data centres, this facility is an intensive building dominated by significant building services; providing the necessary uninterrupted power and cooling required to host our country’s data without disruption.
DCI’s approach to data centre development is highly innovative with significant IP utilised in order to ensure New Zealand’s most robust data centre facilities.
RDT Pacific leveraged technical understanding and experience in the data centre construction industry, experience delivering projects under a full BIM execution plan (with BIM assets developed to as-built) and used clear and robust communication to ensure this project achieved its programme aspirations.
This project, and projects like it, help support New Zealand’s data sovereignty aspirations, enable cloud adoption and support the development of digital skills and technology. The data centre created more than 150 jobs during construction and will support approximately 250 full-time equivalent jobs supporting information and communication technology industries.
RDT Pacific has significant project management experience in New Zealand with regard to the delivery of data centres – the successful delivery of AKL01 further strengthens our specialist expertise in this property sector.
