Royal New Zealand Police College – Auckland Campus
The Royal New Zealand Police College – Auckland Campus is a newly developed training facility located within leased premises at Massey University. RDT Pacific played a central role in the project, providing Project Management, and Quantity Surveying services. The scope involved fitting out approximately 600m² of space to accommodate bespoke teaching areas, a computer room, storage facilities, and locker spaces. The project also included the integration of New Zealand Police-specific ICT and security infrastructure, along with the procurement and management of a full FF&E suite.
The facility was created by transforming a standard commercial tenancy into a specialised, technology-enabled training environment. The fit-out required reconfiguring existing spaces, upgrading building services, and embedding secure ICT systems to meet operational needs. Its innovation lies in the ability to deliver a professional and adaptable training space within a leased structure, tailored to the evolving requirements of police education.
Challenges included working within the constraints of the existing building and meeting a tight timeline to align with scheduled training semesters. These were addressed through a fast-tracked procurement, and close collaboration with the landlord, ensuring the project was delivered on time and to specification.
The success of the project relied on strong project and cost management, stakeholder coordination, and RDT Pacific’s experience with New Zealand Police projects. The outcome is a high-quality, sustainable training facility that supports both digital and instructor-led learning, with the flexibility to evolve alongside future policing needs.
Delivered on time, the project enabled the semester to begin as planned and highlighted the importance of aligning procurement, design, ICT, and compliance from the outset – especially within the framework of public sector procurement rules.
