RDT Pacific is proud to be engaged as the external Project Managers and Engineer to the Contract on behalf of the Ministry of Education for the Christchurch Boys High School Campus Redevelopment including the Caddick and Caldwell buildings.

The redevelopment will deliver much-needed repairs and replacements to buildings damaged in the Christchurch earthquake and new state of the art facilities. Works on the current Caddick & Caldwell buildings are progressing well with completion expected on time at the end of 2020.

The current campus redevelopment includes:

  • Straven Block
  • Caddick & Caldwell classroom buildings
  • Demolition and rebuild of the canteen and food technology teaching facilities
  • Eastern Cycle Enclosure Landscaping
  • Demolition of the existing earthquake prone J Block Building

Future stages, subject to securing additional funding, are proposed to include:

  • Heritage and Structural refurbishment of the schools Main block
  • New gymnasium building
  • Ongoing development and maintenance of campus Master Plan to ensure projects are consistent with the plan and achieving outcomes

All works are being carried out on a busy school campus with over 1,350 students, requiring careful management by RDT Pacific to ensure limited disruptions to school activities. RDT Pacific is taking a very active role in the management of health and safety on the campus ensuring at all times risks are mitigated and students, staff and visitors are safe.

The cornerstone of the campus redevelopment, the new Caddick & Caldwell block in particular will deliver a modern, collaborative teaching spaces, including flexible learning areas and science labs, and make more efficient use of the space available on the campus.

RDT Pacific has been engaged by the Ministry of Education for a number of projects throughout Christchurch as part of the schools rebuild programme.
